Summer Internship: Day 21

Well I am pleased to inform you all, that I did in fact complete yet ANOTHER sweater today!  I finished off last week with cutting the pieces and preparing for construction.  Before I could get started on actual sewing we had some assessing to do with cuffs, pocket and waistband.  I started with the pocket since that needed to be stitched onto the front body piece before the pieces were sewn together.

I serged the sides of the pocket and ironed under to get the finished look.  We then stitched that part over the fold.  The top of the pocket could then be ironed under and then stitched to the sweater piece.

Next, I wanted to include thumb holes in the cuffs of this sweater since I was going for a bit of a sporty look.  Again, this required some math when placing where the hole would be along the seam.  After that I was able to go through and serge my side seams (on raglan this goes from the body piece all the way through the sleeve piece).

Finally, the waistband was going to contain elastic as well as a drawstring.  I serged the raw edge of the waistband to the raw edge of the sweater and left a few inches to slide these two things in using a safety pin.  The elastic was sewn at the desired "snugness" and the drawstring was brought through the grommets to be tied.  I serged the last few inches of the waistband and BOOM!  New sweater:)

And no worries!  I already have another project ready to go for tomorrow...and NO it is not another sweater:)
